Species Timeline
With Juan Castaneda
Evidence
Our goal was to make a timeline explaining the evolution and transitional species of an extant species. First, we made a chart showing the binomial names of species and how and why they evolved. After that, we made a timeline using the information in the chart. Originally, our timeline was a spiral, but we decided to change it to a normal line to improve readability. We also presented it. I made most of the chart and timeline.

Evolution is the process by which species change over time. We used it because every species in our timeline (with the exception of Orcinus orca) evolved into the next.
Natural Selection is when organisms better suited to their environment survive and pass down their advantageous traits to their offspring. We used it because every species in our timeline (with the exception of Orcinus orca) survived to evolve into the next and then died.
Species are the largest possible groups of species capable of interbreeding. We used them because there are many species in our timeline.
Speciation is the formation of new species. We used it because every species in our timeline was formed at
some point.
Adaptation is when a species becomes better suited to its environment. We used it because some species evolved traits that let them survive in their environment better.
Common ancestors are ancestors of different species. We didn't use them because or timeline didn't include branching paths.
Cladograms are diagrams showing the common ancestors and traits of species. We didn't use them because they weren't part of this project.
Timelines are diagrams showing the passage of time as a line. We used them because we made a timeline.
Reflection
One thing I think I did well in this project was that I showed good work ethic. For example, when Juan was off task, I took it upon myself to make the timeline. Another thing I did well was that I showed good empathy. When Juan was off task, I was okay with it and worked on the project by myself. However, because of this, I didn't show good cooperation just like in the last project. I didn't even try to get him back on task. I also could have shown better leadership. A good leader would have tried to get him back on task rather than doing nothing and being part of the problem.
